About

Building out a re-designed member-only WordPress website

We created a completely modernised and rebuilt WordPress website for this member-access brand strategies case studies company.
Goal

Redesign and develop the site with no break in operations

This existing freemium model WordPress website was old, tired and the client was scared to make updates for fear of something breaking. We were tasked with refreshing the design without causing the need for lots of work to be carried out for the hundreds of case studies available on the site. There was also the client's wish for service and members to go uninterrupted by the overhaul taking place, by storing up to date e-commerce and membership data on the new website.

Result

A navigation and search advanced, brand-oriented WordPress website

Together with one of my designers, Sorby Brown, we re-designed and developed a colourful, modern and brand-oriented WordPress site. The design was created in Figma, and after sign off, we rebuilt the WordPress site into a carbon copy of the design. Along the way we carried out a lot of maintenance, removing old or unnecessary plugins, as well as updating all of the technology to bring it up to date and make it secure. The resulting website has a really powerful search feature with the ability to search by selecting archetypes, real-time search for brands as well as by using categories. It has a paywall system which reveals an intro to a case study but with a blur effect to hide content from non-members. There's a cool sticky navigation bar on case studies, to allow the user to quickly scroll to the relevant sections with ease. Finally, we enabled the easy unlocking of case studies for free members, from the backend of the site, making a previously tedious task easy. This was the phase 1 of the project, with phase 2 to redesign and build out the blog and other pages coming shortly.
